Diversity in the Media: Panel Discussion

On 1 May Woroni will be publishing an Ethnocultural edition of the newspaper.

To facilitate the discussion about ethnocultural diversity in the media, Woroni and the Ethnocultural Department have partnered up and organised a panel discussion.

The panel will begin by discussing the need for recognisable diverse faces and diverse narratives in the media. From there, we will delve into actions that media organisations can take to include members of diverse communities – especially pockets of these communities where people are from underprivileged schools, or can't afford to do unpaid work.

Our two panellists are:
Helen Kellie – Chief Content Officer at SBS
Uma Patel – Political Journalist at ABC
with Linda Chen moderating.

The panel discussion will take place for 40 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of question time and 30 minutes for lunch and mingling with panellists and other guests.

Lunch will be provided for all those who attend. All dietary requirements will be catered for.

This event is non-autonomous and is free for all ANU students and staff members, but we ask that you register here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/.../diversity-in-the-media...
