What is feminist consciousness raising?
Feminist consciousness raising groups emerged in the 1960s and were spaces for women to freely discuss their experiences and organise critically. Consciousness raising can be quite personal and emotional opportunities for reflection. It is particularly important to us that this space is welcoming to and deeply considerate of intersectional marginalisation and that it provides safety and healing for community members facing vast systemic injustices.
