Reflections of a Trouble Making Migrant

Dr. Mehreen Faruqi will be kicking off the first ever Ethnocultural Week with her keynote address. Dr. Faruqi is a Pakistani-born Australian politician, who became the first Muslim woman to be elected to any Australian parliament in 2013. She is a civil and environmental engineer by trade, has a PhD, and was the director of the Institute of Environmental Studies at UNSW prior to her election.

We are incredibly lucky to have Dr. Faruqi talk to us on this night about her experiences as an immigrant, being a Muslim woman of colour, and her hilarious ‘Love Letters to Mehreen’ project where she tackles racist and sexist comments she receives on a daily basis head on.

This is a free event open for all, but we ask that you register due to limited spaces: https://www.eventbrite.com/.../reflections-of-a-trouble...
