Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional owners of this land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present, and emerging. We acknowledge that this land was stolen and sovereignty was never ceded. We welcome all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to our Collective and commit to standing with our First Nations people.

Motions to Amend Constitution

  1. Motion to amend section 7(1): Add Publicity Officer, First Year Representative, BASC Representative, and Post-Graduate Representative to the executive.

  4. Dean of Students: Informal report against Ursula Hall in Selena’s capacity as BIPOC Officer.

  5. Registrar's Office: Meeting with Scott Pearsal to give feedback on their management of formal complaints.

  6. Meeting with Dr. Karo & CASS IDEA Bernard Baffour: Contact Bernard Baffour for CASS feedback.

  7. BIPOC Talks:

    • 'Being BIPOC' session held successfully.

  8. Racism & Bigotry Panel: Successfully held yesterday.

  9. SJP: New democratic Palestinian Advocacy group coalition.

  10. Palestine Panel: Venue booked in Kambri for 22nd/23rd April.

  11. Palestine Fundraiser: Reservation with Sideway for 26th April.

  12. Palestine Weekly Rally Walkovers: Roster now in place.

  13. Student Strike for Palestine & Banner/Poster Making: Decent turnout.

  14. Safe Space:

    1. Pending: lock and key, panel heating, sanitary waste disposal.

    2. Access granted to 94 students.

    3. Precious to generate Safe Space feedback Google form.

  15. Events to Attend:

    1. Thursday: Snap Rally Penny Wong Off Campus at 2 PM in Kambri.

    2. Friday: Solidarity with Antoinette Lattouf Rally against ABC at 9:30 AM at ABC Canberra.

    3. Friday: Culture Flip at Sideway.

    4. Friday-Sunday: Palestine Film Festival (Volunteers Needed).

Secretary Report

  1. Constitution:

    • Amendments officially include BASC and Post-Grad roles.

Treasurer Report

  1. Spending:

    • No expenses in the past 13 days after O-Week.

    • Pending payment to Asil for screen printing.

  2. Budget:

    • Chai and Chats skipped for one week improved budget.

    • Suggestion to limit or hold Chai and Chats less frequently.

    • Receipts for the Business Transactions Account in order.

  3. Collaborations:

    • Women's Department Chalk collab: $20-$25 split, under social budget.

  4. Merch: Sales at $516, profit of $395.50.

  5. SRC: Report due soon; minimal financial activity noted.

Social Officer Report

  1. Social Committee: Email draft pending Selena’s approval.

  2. Autonomous Party: Scheduled for 26th April at Sideways.

  3. Chai n Chats: Fundraiser next week, donations for Palestinian charity or action group.

Advocacy Officer Report

  1. Advocacy Committee: Email sent to committee members.

  2. Documentary: Raida assisting with completion, color coding nearly done.

  3. Palestinian Advocacy:

    • Educational panel for Week 8, 22nd April.

    • Movie night, letter writing, and Palestine chalk mural planned.

Publicity Officer Report

  • Graphics for Post-Graduate, BASC, and First Year Representative positions going up soon.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

  • Potential collaboration with BIPOC Department for forum organized by Students and Staff Against War to cut ties with Israel.
