BIPOC Officer

Role Overview: 

As the leader of the BIPOC Department, the Officer plays a central role in guiding the team and ensuring that BIPOC students at ANU are supported and represented. You’ll oversee all the Department's activities and advocate on behalf of students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Advocating for ANU BIPOC students

  2. Leading the Executive and operations of the Department

  3. Supporting the Executive and Department in facilitating social events (such as the annual Ball) and advocacy campaigns (such as the annual Racism Report)

  4. Managing BIPOC Base, the BIPOC Department’s safe space

  5. Managing the Department email inbox

  6. Holding weekly 1-hour consultation slots

  7. Attending ANUSA meetings as required

  8. Attending all executive meetings and collective meetings

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong leadership skills and / or experience in managing teams or leading initiatives, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, ANUSA representatives, and university management.

  • Skilled at problem-solving and decision-making in a dynamic environment

  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively balance university life with other responsibilities

  • Familiar with the workings of ANUSA or other student organisations

To be eligible, you must have attended at least 3 collective meetings in the current academic year.
