Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.

BIPOC Officer Report

Yardhura Walani Panel recap

• SCR meeting last week, the motion was pass. No issue  ( was about the verbal statement about the racism at uni study, Bunds ANU to response)

• Seconding a motion about refugee action protest endorsed from ANUSA

• One thing that might be interesting is a bit of an argument about a motion to get ANUSA to condemn the arrest of Liam from the river to the sea QLD law. The response was great towards us, however very unplanned speech. 

• ANU observer reached out on a comment on Racism at Uni  report, Anenya will do them tonight and sent it back to them. Will be available for viewing. 

• Emma has been doing work on the question for Racism report Question.

Secretary Report

• Had a small chat with Gordana whos with friends of Dilli. They will send some information regarding their event taste of Timor so that we can publish it somewhere and help with social outreach.

• We will begin contacting and reaching out to Friends of Dilli for potential event idea. 

• Should i make a base order form for the break ? to get it refill for the next term? 

• Happy easter break everyone!! Hope you all WILL have a nice break and rest time over the break period and will see you all later in week 7!!

Social Officer Report

Sem 1 party

• Shadows still not responding to our dm via instagram, the status says the message was seen 4 days ago.

• Sem 1 party in collaboration with ISD

• They have been able to successfully contact them

• Shadows told them that they have a tentative booking for the Friday in week 9

• We are finding out if there is availability for our alternative dates for Thursday or Friday week 8 and the Thursday in week 9

  • For Treasurer: Is there a budget set for sem 1 party?

• Got in contact with Amber to organise a DJ workshop for Friday in week 7 - date TBC

• They would like to be compensated for $45 each for their 1.5 hour long workshop

• Need to borrow ANUSA speakers

• Book Club tomorrow! Please come and support

Advocacy Report

We wanted to do more educational panel with friends of Dilli, international education.

• On panel, When is the Exec available for a 6-8 pm panel slot? 

• Diversity in  industry or academia, theme, pass on contact for BIPOC people that inspire you to join in on the panel. 

• Will reach out to Elders to do a welcome to the panel about the panel. 

• Nozi thinks Diversity in industry and academia is better as it is a broader theme. 

• Split off into smaller groups for questions. 

• Zine working group, Emma here the whole break for people staying here. 

• Anenya suggested instead of a collective meeting on wednesday its zine.

I've taken a look at Zapier and think the issue is fixed, but I'm not 100% sure, so let me know if we receive another email saying there is an issue

• I want to add more pictures to the website. Does anyone know where I can get access to pictures from old events?

• Everything else is updated on the website as of rn

• For the hairdressers and braiders that Aria was looking for, what do u guys think about having a section on the website for that

Also, I've added everyone's picture and blurb in the website so lmk if anyone wants to change their picture or blurb

Update on gathering resources, I have a short list so far but nothing concrete. I'm going to send them a short message soon that I’ll run by yall as a generic invite.
