Chalk mural
Was defaced.
ANUSA passed our motion re the mural/ supports us
No communication from the ANU regarding the mural being taken down
Will had received an email from our vice chancellor regarding the mural saying it violated the poster policy. The BIPOC dept received no communication from this VC.
It was taken down by the ANU
An official statement will be made by our department
A meeting will occur w head of ANUSA and VC with our officer
The poster policy will be going under review, esp re their inclusion of chalk which is often used by advocacy groups and the BIPOC department.
The mural included mentions of Trans support, Indigenous sovereignty etc
Expressed concern that this may be used as a bargaining move to remove BIPOC base.
We have been advised there is basis for a legal case according to ANUSA legal based on unfair discrimination.
