Acknowledgement of Country
The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.
BIPOC Officer Report
Received written response from BIPOC 2025, but still want to tweak the response as per the uni racism report that has occurred. Anenya will still be in contact and will be meeting. Anenya asks for non-negotiable items for the meeting if anyone has any.
University recommendations were as follows
Zero torrent policies for perpetrators. Enforce it better.
Having DEI is amending data collection processes so that we can see what the data is for BIPOC and CLAD students.
Unconscious bias training for all students and staff.
Public tracking on the recommendation that has been given to the university ( public tracking)
Emma suggested disclosure specific and responding protocol to be added to the priorities with Jones meeting.
A Racism @ uni report response from BIPOC has been released.
We will start sending out our racism survey. The legal team will need to approve this.
Discuss with Rory from IARCH.
Had a meeting with Syed about the different ethnocultural departments at each uni, and what they can help us with
BDS on the university campus.
The weekly calendar needs to be out earlier than this Friday.
Princess said Sem 1 events will be finalised soon
Kaab talked about the pigeon
Some people under BIPOC as BIPOC media, and having relevant issues concerning bipoc. Giving more BIPOC people opportunities to learn about news and journalism.
Creating a logo soon for Pigeon.
Question ( contribution to a piece): only BIPOC folk contributing a piece?
Anenya suggested: BIPOC only media, then, would be appropriate to take suggestions from non-bipoc.
Stella suggested: If it is about Allyship, would that be ok?
Emma: Depends on the piece.
Kaab wanted to know if anyone wanted to help with publishing in a language other than Mandarin.
