Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.

BIPOC Officer Report

1. Meeting with Joan DVC   

   • Meeting with Joan

   • We were not met with support from the university 

   • We requested an apology and timeline, which will be followed up

   • The poster policy and National Capital Authority were bought up as reasons again

   • Will go to the NCA re a permanent mural 

   • Stated that the mural was impacting the wellbeing of students 

   
   

2. Meeting with Aunty Anne and GBell 

   • Perpetrator has been identified

   • This is remnant of a larger cultural shift- they claimed this is not the case

   • They were not perspective to our concerns

   
   

3. SRC Motion  

   • Publicly condemn white supremacy on campus

   • Hold ANU accountable for student safety

   • Establish anti-racism and extremist response protocols

   • Confront racism in residential halls

   • Embed anti-racism across the University
