Officer Report

  • We have had Princess step down as publicity officer

    • Thank her for her contributions to the department this year and last year

  • Offer support to anyone who may need it - here to help

    • reiterate the culture and expectations of the department

  • Poster Policy motion - condemning the removal of BIPOC materials, infringing on political expression, and requesting ANUSA’s support

    • 2nd September next SRC

  • Follow up to meeting with RED - Lina to discuss Racism Report with me

Sent invoice to Indigenous Department

  • Working on SRC expenditure, trying to catch up as much as I can before I hand it off to the next treasurer. 

  • To the next treasurer that will be elected later today, I am happy to give you an induction to the role, keep me in contact and we can arrange a time.

General Report

Election is first on the Agenda.

  • Post Grad election first. 

    • Candidates include Morgan

    • Anenya explained the BIPOC post grad Rep role and steps of Elections.

  •  Morgan explained and do a speech about why they want to do the role of post Grad rep. 

  • Speech explains importance of BIPOC dept, their past experience, good communication, emailing, fundraising and event organisation. Explaining why post grad rep is important for post grad social life and community. 

  • Vote gets on pause until Treasurer speech.

  • Treasurer election goes second.

  • Treasurer candidates, Nardia/ Navy. Speech sent online,

  • Anenya said Speech. Love the work BIPOC are doing with inclusion. Promises in role. Past experience in student club. Apologies for not being able to attend.-  Navy 

  • Second candidate Rosie's speech. 

  • Speech: speaking about racism in Canberra and how she can join BIPOC to better help fight racism, and create a better environment. Had a role with Marketing for ASOC, stating commitments. 

  • Third candidate, Puvi

  • Speech given. Past experience, soft skills, studied finance, past experience in finance, internship with start-up in past, data analysis, modelling finances, modelling budget. Founded a non-profit with friends. Non-profit to help vulnerable communities. Period equity. Doing logistics for Voices for Refugees. Selling artworks. Past experience with educational advocacy in environments. 

  • Voting starts.

  • Morgan Furst for post grad 

  • Voting result: unanimously voted Morgan Furst.

  • Voting for  role Treasurer, treasurer is In order of speaking for treasurer: Navy, Pham Bao Nghi Do (Rosie), Purvi 

  • Voting result: Purvi is the Treasurer elected. 

  • Next week we will pass a motion to let Purvi and Marana into the card.
