Acknowledgement of Country
The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.
BIPOC Officer Report
SRC last week.
Mentioned refugee action motion and it was passed.
Need to ask for the endorsement of the protest against Pauline Hanson on 14 August. And was passed and endorsed by ANUSA and NUS.
Racism Report.
Current promotion seems good; asked for feedback from Chai and chatted this morning.
Response: It was good. 8-10 people showed up, but mostly the same people.
We need responses and need to do data analysis.
We will keep the survey open for a bit until mid- sem break to do data Analysis.
Meeting with Interim VC.
Should I arrange to meet with an Interim VC? Or not?
Feedback from the Women officer said that there's not much feedback, as the interim isn't permanent and can't answer or promise much.
Feedback?
Marana, don't think it's worth it, and we can allocate our resources and Advocacy to other
Emma, better to talk to Ron, head of residential experience instead of the Interim VC, bc the last year report was focused on Residential experience.
Election
We have 1 applicant for Treasurer, and 1 applicant for Post Grad rep
Election date is 19 August for the new role, and they will do their speech.
Opinion on writing up a motion on the next SCR to condemn poster policy, and ANU treatment of BIPOC Palestine activism?
We can get writing support from ANUSA.
But if we don't make a move until they make a move, can we remain peaceful and carry on what we are currently doing in the department? Because it seems that ANU forgot, and we don't want the attention and reminder from them in terms of cleaners.
Opinion?
Do nothing until they force us to do something.
Meeting with other department officers, as they all have meetings with Felicity the residential team. (RED residential experience division)
Anenya passed on a lot of feedback to the residential team from the Racism report last year. Brought up inconsistency with the response feedback ANU did for the report we did last year.
Our points were relayed, but unsure if they will do anything about it.
National code for Gender-Based Violence.
The Women's Officer fought really hard for student hard from student. And got consultation from each department.
A student-wide survey form will go out for anyone to fill in.
We can arrange a consultation as a department, and can arrange how the consultation session is run, ex who is there, where the meeting is?
Asking who is interested in being a part of the consultation, and capacity for this consultation?
Emma said they would like to be involved and have the collective participate, as it is a university-wide thing.
However, we need to make it more accessible to the collective for feedback.
Anenya also asked if we could ask all the departments in a joint post to break it down in simple terms? Ask Women officer.
Palestine action?
Bake sales? Palestinian recipe we can use?
Stella asked?
What is our capacity to reach out to local Palestinian groups?
Reach out to people interested in Palestinian action to come together, make art, sell stuff for mutual aid.
Marana asked if they can host Palestinian bird art colouring in the event?
Maybe we can sell prints, art for Palestine?
Or we can dedicate a Budget for that.
Let's tentatively book that in for Term 4 after break.
Secretary Report
I have been reached out to by the ANUFA president, the ANU Filipino student association, that they wanted to do an event with us in week 5. The vibe seems to be a very chill social event before the mid-semester exam. I have CC Stella and the BIPOC email, so some of you already know about this. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. Considering I have been radio silent for the last week.
Current ideas include: game night, make your own Halo-halo, Filipino classic film night.
I have made a general business submission form that I want to be put on our social media that I will monitor every week before the meeting. In case any of our collectives have something to raise during a collective meeting and cannot make it.
Ensure I, as secretary, send in everyone's action items after a collective meeting so that everyone knows what they are doing. (This is mostly just a reminder for me)
Print out and laminate new QR code poster of access to base link that will work and put it out on base.
Ensure everyone is informed of our lost and found box. ( I will make a post about this and ask someone with access to our social to post this)
Base order suggestion form to be made and put out for public for when we get our 10K to spend. Please can I have someone advertise the BIPOC base feedback form. For when we have gotten our money?
I promise I will look into the constitution and fix it to be up to date, more defined, and more accessible to run the department smoothly. However i am busy bee. Put this on my action items, please.
I notice that we have put up meeting minutes on our website. Can I ask how this works on the website end of things? I can provide all the files of previous meeting agendas and minutes we have.

Interim Treasurer Report
Can I ask Anenya right now who has access to the bank account online, and what we currently have in our account as of right now? So that we know how much we have.
Our 10K should be here soon. It was submitted on 13 August; formally, it should be here within 30 Days since that invoice was submitted to ANUSA. However, I have been chasing and emailing the status with the ANUSA treasurer as well. I will update what I have heard from them.
I have sent out the 10K budget I have made for each portfolio and type of expenses. While on slack i mentioned that I will rework the amount for the website subscription, but for the half a year we have left, $38.50 per month for six months is $231; the allocated budget at $270 is enough to last. Note on this: each portfolio tries to stick with the allocated amount; however, the budget is flexible as some events and costs we do underspend. Please talk to the new treasurer or me if you want extra money to spend or go over the budget. It is fine; we can move some part of the budget we underspent over to where we went over, or for a new initiative we want to pursue.
If worst-case scenario, we do not have any money left, and our 10K ANUSA funding has not reached us. I recommend that whichever one of the execs is doing well financially at the moment that we are hosting and needing to allocate money to that event to cover the event, and to fill in an invoice form for the amount that they have spent on that event, and we will send in reimbursement as soon as we can allocate that money back with our 10K.
I have created a format for reimbursement invoices from the department, seen here. For anyone to use if they need reimbursement.
I have created a format for an expenditure report for Anenya to use for SRC and for our future treasurer.
