Acknowledgement of Country

The ANU BIPOC Department acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, and pays respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.

BIPOC Officer Report

Anenya apology for being absent and minimally available for the past couple of weeks - I have had theatre and am now unwell on the GC; I will be back and fully available from next week onwards

• Special shoutout to Stella for all her hard work with party planning, event facilitation and social calendar this term

• please hop onto the calendar and volunteer to run some events to share the burden

• party held at One22 on the 16th of May - tickets are out (exec code is EXEC05$ and sober reps get free tickets)

• racism report survey launch hopefully in the next two weeks

• meeting with DVCE has been postponed - Anenya to send through proposed agenda to collective this week

• princess has taken a break from her position - we need to decide whether we want to open up the position or distribute the responsibilities of promotion amongst existing exec members (can be decided when Anenya is back)

• ball has been locked in for Saturday 22nd August at Rex Hotel - deposit has been paid

• zine submissions officially closed, but I would like more exec submissions so please do those !!!

• kaab’s statement release on Facebook re systemic racism within woroni - bipoc reiterates its support for kaab and the demand for accountability within woroni

Secretary Report

Since everyone is mostly away from department meetings, I'll start sending action items specific to each exec, portfolio, or events on Slack after meeting is done.  In that way we can keep track and have reminders of what needed to be done.

• Re: Base order, when available can Ariq confirm an annual budget for base order so i can allocate time frame and amount to order?

• Re: BIPOC in research and industry panel, Indigenous department cant collaborate, since the panel is on the same time as their department meeting. They are still happy to repost, and happy to help with acknowledgement.

• We can't do a Welcome to Country because it's beyond our spending capacity for the panel 

• I’m thinking of making a public google doc/form for general business that I can monitor, incase anyone of our collective have something to share or propose to the department.  Once done, this can be attached to Linktree, or the website.

Social Officer Report

The ISD x BIPOC Throwback Party is happening next week Saturday from 8-11pm!! We will be having an open bar and pizza, and DJs form the community playing. Grab your tickets now from our instagram pages.

• We still have an open expression of interest for DJs and photographers! please dm us if you're interested!

• People who want to sober rep can get free tickets to sem 1 party with an access code - dm BIPOC dept instagram account

• For mob tickets which are free also dm us

• Don't forget to repost BIPOC run events on your social media platforms and advertise it through word of mouth :)

For the party that's coming up, it would be great to have some pictures (I think we already plan to do that tho)

• I can't seem to use the non-alch ticket code for the party

• The website is pretty up to date

• Please send me a text if anyone needs help with social media posts and stuff (I think we talked about it at the last meeting)

• Also, for "need sober rep volunteer" from last agenda - what do they do, I don't drink, so I can check to see if I'm free and am happy to do it
