BIPOC Officer Report

Yardhura Walani Panel recap

  • I  response to the racism at uni studies and researches the faculty member are doing

  • Lorisa, head of IARCH, presented a recap of the studies, and ANU had 45% participation, the third highest out of 45 universities, mentioned the BIPOC department and questioned the report as being too narrow and the fact that we may not mention their experience in our survey in our disclosure.

  • People who are experiencing racism and are not BIPOC. We are not responsible for that experience, as our priorities are on BIPOC students.

  • Disappoint at the critique of the department.

  • The SBS inclusion program has been sent to Anenya for testing.

  • There will be an improvement in identity data collection on students.

  • Harmful behaviour report will now include racism

  • Including Bystander Bites for Srms. Maybe contribute it to the majority of people on campus?

  • New Anti racism task force taking place. In response to the Racism at uni report.  (A bit inefficient as they take place every few years, but why isn't there a fixed role position?)

  • Lauren from Dei isn't a specialist and can't report back to you. Talked about code of conduct, policies

  • Claudia staff respect consultants, would staff of colour be happy to talk to white staff? There's been a rise in disclosure, and the majority are anonymous, as most people don't have confidence in them.

  •  SCRS is making a motion of racism in the uni report. Verbal form of statement, we release ANUSA calls on ANU to acknowledge the report, implementation of the report, and publicly release an update on the implementation of the report. Engage directly with BIPOC students and staff on Anti racism actions on campus.

  • Anenya is also seconding the refugee actions in the Australian government.

  • Next week, Anenya will be online as she will be back home.

  • ANU observer will send a question about our response to racism at uni

  • We received feedback from a survey consultant on the racism report from Nathan.

  • Meeting with Joan on the 12th of May.  With Anenya and Charlie.

  • ANUSA Legal is filing a complaint with the Human Rights Commission regarding racism, ableism, general exclusion and harassment in the residential hall.

  • Can everyone share the link to our Zine?

  • Congratulate everyone on the increase in engagement. Please continue sharing it on our social.
